Hon. Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala
Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala was elected Chairperson of the African Risk Capacity Agency Governing Board in 2013. Dr. Okonjo-Iweala has had a prestigious career in international development finance, previously serving as a Managing Director at the World Bank. She has also served as the Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Honourable Minister of Finance for Nigeria. Dr. Okonjo-Iweala studied at Harvard and received a PhD in Regional Economics and Development from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She has won numerous awards including one of Time magazine’s Hero of the Year Awards in 2004 for her work on economic reform in Nigeria. In 2004/05 she was named Minister of the Year by the Financial Times and the Banker Africa. |
Mr. Tosi Mpanu-Mpanu
Mr. Tosi Mpanu-Mpanu is currently Chair of the Least Developed Countries Group of Negotiators for UNFCCC negotiations and Member of the UNFCCC’s Green Climate Fund. A DRC national, he has been an advisor to both the Environment and Foreign Affairs Ministries, becoming director of the Clean Development Mechanism, Designated National Authority of the DRC. Mr. Mpanu-Mpanu started his career with the World Bank after receiving an MBA from George Washington University and Masters in International Relations from the Sorbonne in Paris. |
Mr. Ouhoumoudou Mahamadou
Mr. Ouhoumoudou Mahamadou was appointed Director of the Office of the President for Niger in mid-2015. Prior to this appointment, was Director General of a major national bank, BIA-Niger. Mr. Mahamadou has also served in the government of Niger as Minister of Mines, Energy, and Industry from 1991 to 1993 and as Minister of Finance from 2011 to 2012. He has also held the position of Deputy Executive Secretary of Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). |
Hon. Dr. Agnes Kalibata
Hon. Dr. Agnes Kalibata joined the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) as President in 2014, prior to which she was Minister of Agriculture and Animal Resources for Rwanda. She has held other senior positions within the government as well as being deputy vice chancellor for the University of Rwanda. She currently sits on a number of boards including the Strategic Advisory Council of the International Food Policy Research Institute. Dr. Kalibata has a PhD in Entomology from the University of Massachusetts. |
Hon. Diombar Thiam
Hon. Diombar Thiam is Advisor to the President of Mauritania on Financial and Economic Matters. He was previously Minister of Finance for four years after holding many senior positions within the Ministry of Finance including Director General of Treasury and Public Accounts, State Inspector General and main negotiator with the World Bank and IMF. Hon. Thiam has worked for the Mauritanian government for more than three decades. |
Mr. Birama B. Sidibe
Mr. Birama Sidibé, a national of Mali, most recently served as Vice President of the Islamic Bank of Development from 2009-2015. In this position he oversaw the expansion of IDB activities into Sub Saharan Africa. Prior to the IDB, Mr. Sidibe was Managing Director of Kenyan Housing Finance Institution, Shelter Afrique. He previously spent 23 years at the African Development Bank holding a range of technical and managerial positions. Mr Sidibé has a Masters in Water and Sanitation from the University of Montpellier. |
Hon. Professor Peter Mwanza
Hon. Professor Peter Mwanza was the Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development for Malawi from 2009-2010 and the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security from 2010-2015. He helped establish Mzuzu University in Malawi for which he later became Vice Chancellor, as well as assisting in establishing the Malawi Environmental and Endowment Trust for which he is Chairman and also the National Research Council of Malawi. Professor Mwanza has worked for the UN’s Economic Commission for Africa and the University of Malawi. He has a PhD in Microbiology from Ohio State University. |

Mr. Beavogui is currently Director General of the African Risk Capacity Agency after being elected by the ARC Conference of Parties in January 2015. Previously he was Director of Partnerships and Resource Mobilisation and Senior Advisor to the President of the UN’s International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). He joined IFAD in 2001 after having spent seven years with the UN Office for Project Services and six years at the UN Food and Agricultural Organisation. Mr Beavogui holds a Masters in Engineering from Saint Petersburg Polytechnic and has had Executive Management training at Harvard Kennedy School. |
