Dakar - May 20, 2026 The African Risk Capacity Agency (ARC), a specialized agency of the African Union, and TrustAfrica today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a strategic partnership for advancing gender-responsive disaster risk management (DRM), climate action, and social inclusion across Africa. The collaboration aims to strengthen the resilience of vulnerable communities, particularly women, youth, and smallholder farmers, to climate shocks and natural disasters.

Lilongwe, Malawi – 25 July 2025: Today, the Government of the Republic of Malawi has received an insurance payout from the African Risk Capacity (ARC) Group to the sum of USD $3,376,783, following a drought that affected the 2024/2025 agricultural season. This marks another significant step in the country’s proactive efforts to manage climate-related risks and protect vulnerable communities.
