Johannesburg, July 11, 2018 - The Government of Republic of the Sudan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the African Risk Capacity (ARC) to work together towards helping the country better prepare to efficiently deal with extreme weather events and natural disasters. Along with African Ministers of Finance, who discussed their experiences with the national impact of climate events on their populations and economies, African Risk Capacity and the African Development Bank (AfDB) highlighted the role that sovereign disaster risk insurance has played in mitigating the impact of climate disasters across Africa.

The African Risk Capacity’s (ARC) annual Conference of Parties (CoP) convened this month in Mauritania, with all signatories of ARC invited to attend.
