Zambia Gender and Disaster Risk Management Training of Trainers Workshop
The workshop had two (2) objectives :
- Training of Gender in Disaster Risk Management, and
- Policy Dialogue on gender and DRM in Zambia.
The Training of Trainers workshop process comprised several learning methodologies, including presentation, group work, buzz pairs, case studies, scenarios, and plenary discussions. The participatory learning methodology helped the participants to interact and share experiences. All the ToT workshop participants were awarded certificates of attendance. A certificate-awarding ceremony was conducted at the end of the workshop.
The certificates were handed over by Mr Likezo from DMMU and Ms Angela Abdula, ARC gender analyst.
The results inform the policy dialogue of the gender analysis, and it underscores the gender-specific disparities and avenues for integrating gender considerations into DRM laws, policies, structures, guidelines, and programs in Zambia, ensuring equitable recognition of the rights and capabilities of both men and women. It preceded the payout ceremony that ARC Group made with an official presentation of the insurance payout cheques to the Government of Zambia and Replica Partner World Food Programme. The payouts will help to upscale government response efforts to support the people impacted by El Nino, underscoring ARC’s commitment to enhancing resilience and dealing with climate disasters.
